Fort Sesfontein Lodge & Safaris

B&B Accommodation at Fort Sesfontein Lodge & Safaris | Kaokoland

Fort Sesfontein Lodge & Safaris is located conveniently in the centre of Sesfontein, Namibia. The lodge offers comfortable B&B accommodation in Kaokoland. Sesfontein Fort has a fascinating history. Originally the fort was built by the German South-West African government in 1896. It was used as a checkpoint for checking cattle disease, arms smuggling and illegal hunting. It was then used as a fort by the German armed forces and eventually abandoned in 1914. Today it has been restored as a lodge and has guests from all over the world coming to stay. Much of the original fort and atmosphere has been kept. The lodge was rebuilt using of clay walls, stone floors and wooden ceilings. However, with modern facilities such as air-conditioning, it makes for a comfortable and tranquil stay. The lodge uses solar power to provide hot water to the bathrooms. Fort Sesfontein also features a refurbished restaurant with an integrated lounge and bar and a large swimming pool.
