Grootberg Lodge

Lodge in Namibia with Rhino Tracking | Grootberg Lodge | Damaraland

Grootberg Lodge in Namibia offers rhino tracking and comfortable accommodation in Damaraland.  Grootberg is located near Palmwag in the Kunene region of Namibia. The chalets are situated on the edge of the Etendeka Plateau offering breathtaking views of the valley below. Grootberg offers family-friendly accommodation in Damaraland with two family chalets each offering sufficient space for four. Fourteen twin-bedded chalets are popular with couples travelling through Namibia on a self-drive basis. Each chalet has its private deck where soaring Black Eagles are a common sight.

Grootberg Lodge is a popular place to stay for travellers on safari in Namibia and which are looking for accommodation between Swakopmund and Etosha. Eco-tourism is an integral part of this lodge, and the chalets are built with natural materials. The lodge is operated by Solar energy. Guests are also able to make use of the massages and various treatments available. The North African Back & Neck Massage is popular with guests as are the facial treatments. Guided walks enable guests to appreciate the surrounding wilderness. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you will learn much about the local flora. You may even spot some of the smaller creatures and mammals that inhabit this area. After your walk you can cool off in the rim-flow pool positioned right on the edge of the plateau and guests can stand at the end of the pool and gaze down into the ancient valley below.

Popular activities in Damaraland and on offer at Grootberg Lodge include tracking the Desert Elephants and endangered Black Rhino. The lodge is set in the 12000-hectare #Khoadi/Hoas conservancy where the Black Rhino and Desert Elephant roam freely. Elephant tracking is done with a knowledgeable guide and an open 4×4 game drive vehicle. Rhino tracking is done with a  game vehicle but also partly by foot. The Kunene Region of Namibia has the largest free-roaming population of the highly endangered Black Rhino in the world. Spotting one of these rhinos is an experience you will never forget.

For self-drive travellers on a camping safari Grootberg have there nearby campsite in Damaraland available.
