Ngepi Camp

Welcome to Ngepi – A place where the sun rises between your toes! Ngepi Camp is located on the banks of the Okavango River and was born out of the desire to live symbiotically with the environment, the animals and surrounding communities. It is known for its tranquillity, its attractive tree houses and crocodile-safe swimming pool. The main attractions are the Mahango National Park and the Popa Falls. The local villages close-by has been inspirational on how to live in sync with the natural surroundings.

At Ngepi Camp we use solar powered electricity to avoid having to import electricity from a coal burned power station. Water we use from the river using a water wheel; the water is then solar-heated by a well-insulated storage facility for cold and cloudy days. The décor at the camp are roll down reed walls and evaporative air-con system for the relaxation in nature. Ngepi uses local thatch and reeds and timber for the Tree Houses. At the main building we have a restaurant, bar, kitchen and dining area with views over the river. Complementary tea and coffee can be ordered at our bar.

Our accommodation is divided through three – the Tree Houses, Bush Huts and Camping. Our Tree Houses overlook the Kavango River and are built around a tree, on a wooden deck with a thatched roof, reed walls and roll up blinds to give that natural feel. All Tree Houses feature en-suite bathroom with ‘al fresco’ shower, braai area, mosquito nets and linen + towels are provided. Our Bush Huts are rustic, thatched roof with two half-walled rooms and an open-air bathroom. These feature a braai area and have mosquito nets. Children are not allowed under the age of 12. We also have campsites along the river, with a grassed area and parking space for vehicles with caravans. All campsites have their own 220v solar powered electricity point, a water tap and braai facilities. We unfortunately cannot supply air-conditioners, kettles, microwaves, geysers and hairdryers.

Ngepi Camp offers a ‘floating swimming pool’ in the river, boat cruises, fishing, bird/village walks, Mokoro Safari, game drives, dragon river rafting, bushman art trip and a visit to the Popa Falls, Mahango National Park and the Bwabwata National Park. We also have Frisbee, golf and volleyball. Guests will be able to see elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, buffalo, the African wild dog and the rare Sable and Roan antelope.
