Schützenhaus
Schützenhaus was established in 1899, which used to be the oldest German Club in Southern Africa and is now a Guest House in Keetmanshoop. It is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit the fossil trail, Fish River Canyon, Giant’s Playground and the Quiver tree forest. Our Guest House features an a la carte restaurant, private bar, braai facilities, an outdoor swimming pool and free Wi-Fi.
Schützenhaus Accommodation
Our accommodation consists of 11 luxury double rooms, 2 luxury family rooms, 1 luxury twin room, 3 luxury self-catering units and 3 guide rooms. Each room has a wardrobe, a TV, air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom.
Conference and Activities
We offer conference facilities and cater for small to medium sized groups – offering accommodation and meals in various venues. Guests can visit the Mesosaurus Fossil Site just 35km northeast of Keetmanshoop, or visit the Quiver tree forest with over 500 specimens to be seen. There’s the Giant’s Playground close to Keetmanshoop, and it’s named after the blocks of greyish-black dolerite doing a balancing act, stacked above one another and looks like as if giants have been playing with bricks. The Fish River Canyon is the longest river in Namibia with more than 800km from its source in the Naukluft Mountains. Here you can also do the hiking trails, which are a bit difficult but offer beautiful photographic opportunities. You can also see the Desert Horses when travelling between Aus and Lüderitz.
