Wilderness Serra Cafema
Wilderness Serra Cafema
Serra Cafema - one of the best luxury safari lodges in Namibia | Kaokoland
Serra Cafema offers luxury lodge accommodation in Kaokoland in the Kunene region of Namibia. Situated on the Kunene River banks, a natural boundary between Namibia and Angola guests can truly experience a break from the modern world. Serra Cafema is one of the most isolated lodges in Namibia. The tranquil sounds of the passing river’s perennial waters enable guests to disconnect and truly unwind and relax. The surrounding area is home to the semi-nomadic Himba tribe. These people have clung to their traditional way of life. An encounter with the Himba people is a cultural experience that shouldn’t be missed out. A Himba community visit allows guests to interact and learn about these fascinating people’s customs and lifestyle.
The eight chalets at Serra Cafema are luxurious. They are well-equipped to ensure that your stay in one of the driest deserts in the world is more than comfortable. In-tent massages are available to guests. The Chalets are set amongst verdant trees and are positioned on elevated decks and crafted in wood and canvas. The influence of the Himba tribe is evident throughout the camp. Guests can have sundowners on their private decks whilst watching the African sun setting on the shimmering waters of the Kunene River. The surrounding landscapes are desolate and fascinating as the river is the only water source in this region. An oasis is found along its banks as it meanders like a serpent through an otherworldly lunar-like desert landscape.
Guests can spot small herds of Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, springbok and gemsbok (Oryx) as well as the occasional Nile crocodile lazing on the river banks. Bird lovers can look out for the Burchell’s courser and Benguela long-billed lark. The river can be explored safely by boat and gives guests the chance to experience their surroundings from a different perspective.
Serra Cafema offers an exclusive experience which can only be reached by Fly-in Safari. Discover why this luxury lodge is a highlight for many travellers on their Namibian safari. Book now and experience one of the best luxury safari lodges in Namibia.
