At first, they quoted $400 for a dormitory. So, the two of us stayed in a two-bedroom studio for $900. After returning from Dune 45, we asked for a dormitory, but they told us to pay $650. I feel like I'm being scammed. It feels like they only care about money. I feel very uncomfortable and upset.

Had 2 nice stays here at either end of our trip. We had everything we needed, and the staff were friendly and food and drinks were flowing. The breakfast was nice.

I highly recommend Chameleon Backpackers! It was the perfect base for my stay in Windhoek, especially because of its unbeatable central location. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the Namibia Craft Centre and only a few minutes to Wernhil Mall. The hostel itself feels like a little oasis with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a nice pool area. Everything was spotless and safe. I’ll definitely be back! The booked room was small but clean. However, IT was inexpensive and ideal for starting an early morning Safari.

We stayed here before and after our Road trip through Namibia. It's very closed to Asco Car hire and there are some nice restaurants around. Very friendly staff, nice and clean rooms. There is a pool and a pool bar with good prices for drinks and food. Breakfast is included and ok. There is a parking inside where our Landcruiser was safe. You have a shared kitchen to cook and a big fridge and boxes to store your Groceries. Absolutely amazing place!

We stayed here twice before and after a safari through chameleon tours. The rooms are spacious, super comfortable beds, and are accommodated with a safe, instant coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The courtyard and kitchen is beautiful and clean. The free breakfast has an array of options and there is a restaurant as well. You can store your luggage for free if you go on a tour and leave it at the hostel for some hours while you explore. We did the walking tour with Ammaarah who was so sweet and were helped at reception by Hennie and Memory- all were so nice!! The one thing I noticed was there are not many young people staying here. Mostly families and older travelers. It may be because we came in the off season, but something to note.

It's a very nice hostel right at the heart of Windhoek, its close to a mall with the supermarkets in which makes very easy to do your grocery shop to your road trip. Staff is good but sometimes it feels they are very cooperative, and needs to run according to their books, what makes it lose the welcoming feeling that you expect to have. Breakfast is good but it doesn't have a standard, there are eggs somedays and not the other, which makes a little difficult to understand. The free walking tour is nice and contributes a lot to our understanding of how the country is operated. They also have some tented "rooms" that makes their rates more competitive.
