Tourists can travel with mobile devices and access the GSM network at all major towns as well as on most portions of the national highway in Namibia.  International roaming agreements are in place with more than 220 networks from over 100 countries.  Most of the Namibian accommodation establishments offer WI-FI and most towns have internet cafes.  For self-drive tourists that wish to travel to remote areas the hiring of a satellite phone is highly recommended.

Cell phone coverage is limited in Namibia with many areas having poor to no signal. It is therefore recommended to take a travel map with you.

When dialing internationally from Namibia via mobile devices a + followed by the relevant country code, area code and number is to be dialed.  When dialing internationally from Namibia via a fixed landline the international access code is 00.  When dialing internationally to Namibia the country code is 264 followed by the area code and number.
