We had a really good experience with GW. Communication was good and they were very accommodating about pick up and drop off to the airport.
The vehicle handles the roads and sand with ease.
There was an issue with the gas stove halfway through our two weeks, but GW helped and found a solution on the road.

I give them maximum stars for many reasons. Availability, reliability, kindness, brand new cars, very reasonable price. The reasons are varied, starting with the airport transfer service, which I never requested but was kindly provided free of charge.
They only asked for a 10% deposit from Italy to secure the rental, and I then paid upon arrival.
You can pay by credit card or cash.
THEY DO NOT REQUIRE A DEPOSIT AS A GUARANTEE, BLOCKING A PORTION OF THE CREDIT CARD FUNDS.
They have a huge fleet of cars, about a hundred, and mostly new... mine was from 2025 (I wrote this review on May 6, 2026). There is the option of having a driver.
MAX is the person in charge of explaining the car; he was very professional and truly kind and generous.
His skill really captivates people. Help him with a tip because they have ridiculous salaries.
The paperwork is very streamlined and simple.
They presented me with my impeccably clean Hilux. It looked freshly registered, perfect, and even had new tires, which is crucial on these roads, which are 70% unpaved and full of sharp rocks where it's easy to get a flat... or on off-road terrain, even in desert-like areas.
Another crucial aspect is having a dual fuel tank, which gave me peace of mind when traveling up to 600 km without seeing ANYTHING or ANYONE.
I drove my Hilux entirely alone and without any problems during the trip, confident in the quality of the vehicle and responsible driving.
The final check upon return was thorough and summary, and I personally had no problems or complaints with the rental company.

Very fair company. After our first email exchange, I already reserved a Toyota Fortuner. Although we arrived late and they forgot to come out to the airport for us, they quickly resolved the problem. The car was picked up quickly and we even received a 40-minute briefing. We drove 4539 km in Namibia and the vehicle was returned within minutes. Plus, the car also came with a wifi hotspot. I can highly recommend it and I will rent from them again next time.

We rented a 4x4 with a rooftop tent and all the camping equipment, and we recommend their service 1000%! The best part was the onboard Wi-Fi, which was incredibly useful! The welcome was friendly, smiling, helpful, and responsive. Go for it without hesitation. We'll definitely be back! 😍

I rented a Suzuki Jimny for two weeks from Gracious Whisp Car Rentals, and the experience was disastrous.
I discovered during the trip that the roof could not support the weight of the tent & jerrycans, causing a roof bar to break. This resulted in half a day lost and unnecessary stress.
I had fuel jerrycans on the roof, provided by the agency, to use when I couldn’t find gas stations. But the nozzle they gave me didn’t fit the jerrycans, making them impossible to use. Once again, time and money lost, and detours in my trip due to their lack of professionalism.
The agency manager never responded to my follow-ups, offering no assistance or solution.
I would not recommend them if you want a safe and peaceful travel. There are plenty of other agencies that are much more professional.

I’ll begin with saying that trip to Namibia was something we long dreamt of and we were preparing for it so diligently. Considering long distances, unfavorable road conditions and remote sight spots we knew it’s going to be our top priority to choose someone reliable and trustworthy. Most honestly, we were also a bit concerned with safety in urban areas too. At the time when we found Gracious Whisp on Google Maps, they only had maybe 50 reviews (all positive though) but we still weren’t sure, specifically because they required upfront payment in full 14 days prior to car pick-up. But after some research, we realized that number one rule we have with our travels (which is to always choose and support local business) is the best north star in this situation. So we confirmed and finalized our booking directly with Garth (the owner). Best decision ever!
We researched a lot and checked out almost every single local and international car rental option in Windhoek and trust us, GW proved the best in all aspects. I’ll list those out below in hope that it can help other fellow travelers who struggle with overthinking like we do 😄🙈:

Stellar service from everyone we interacted with. Brave (company employee) came to pick us up at our resort which was further away from the airport. He picked us up early morning in a super clean and comfy car, drove us to the rental car office for the car pick-up. On the way, he introduced us to Namibian culture and rules in traffic. Proper 5 stars experience. He also drove us to the airport on our departure which was equally great!
At the office Vicky (receptionist) welcomed us, all the paperwork was already done ahead of time and we were able to just sign and leave in 5min. Superb pick-up experience, so fast and smooth! On our departure we met Garth (the owner) who was very lovely in person too!

Feels and looks brand new. Excellent on gravel road. They give you all equipment and provide you with necessary education. People were telling us different things at different places about tire pressure but these guys knew the sweetspot pressure level that helps you go through any kind of road with no issues and no need for changing anything. We literally just drove out and came back in with everything untouched. That’s what we call a car rental expertise!
+ ADDED VALUE: 5/5
Unlike all other rental car companies in the world and in Namibia, these guys are not greedy and they allow flexibility with car pick up and drop off times - they don’t count hours to charge you another full day for just a few hours above…it’s so rare to find a company that is so elegant and smooth in the way they do business. With this model, I’m sure they will attract so many more customers and ultimately should win the market over. This is a very unique differentiator for car rental space.
But that’s not all, they also provide free WiFI that you can use during your whole rental period. It’s a portable WiFi device that can go anywhere with you whether you’re in a car or hiking up the sand dunes. How practical is that… Service is mostly always OK, in urban areas is stronger.
+ Two spare tires (we didn’t even need) + jerry cans.
+ PRICING: 5/5
They offered same daily rate as all other companies for this type of the car but when you look at all the extras they do complimentary which other companies either charge for or don’t provide at all, you shortly realize these guys are the best in the market.
Overall, our rating for GW is most sincere 5 stars. The guys are excellent in what they do, stellar hospitality and very professional. We felt like they went above and beyond for us so if you are in doubt, I hope that these insights can help you make an informed decision.

It was the best decision to rent a car at this Company. Garth and his team are just amazing! Rented a last minute car, got a Suzuki Jimney with full equipped Camping gear. It was a pleasure to discover Namibia with this Car!
The booking, reservation, pick up, Service during the trip and drop off was uncomplicated and profesional.
I will come back to Namibia and definitvely with a car from this company.

Garth and his GW team helped make our Namibia road trip and safari the best time ever. The hire car is such an important part of the holiday. From first communication, to pick up and drop off were all perfect. We hired a Ford pick-up and decided to extend our trip so Garth provided us with a mini-van. Both vehicles were clean, in good condition and well maintained. We didn't have any problems. It was like borrowing from a family member, would highly recommend.
