Camp Isa is a glamping-style camp in the heart of Damaraland, pairing comfortable, fully equipped tents with a self-catering setup. It’s ideal for travellers who want easy access to a tour of Twyfelfontein’s rock engravings without giving up creature comforts. It’s a flexible, tranquil base for both self-drive road trips and guided excursions into Damaraland’s rugged desert scenery.
What Makes Camp Isa Different
Camp Isa’s four glamping tents strike a deliberate balance between wilderness immersion and comfort — proper beds, a fridge and charging points. They’re set among Damaraland’s mountains, sandstone cliffs and desert plains. Guests can self-cater at their own pace or make use of the communal dining area for breakfast, light meals or evening drinks. Camp Isa guests can also book nature drives directly through neighbouring Mowani Campsite. This gives self-caterers easy access to a guided wildlife excursion without needing to arrange transport elsewhere.
The Tents at Camp Isa
Each of the four glamping tents has two beds with bedding and towels provided. Other amenities include a ceiling fan, electrical plugs for charging devices, a small basin, a luggage rack and a fridge. Two ablution blocks serve the camp, each with a shower and toilet. There’s a swimming pool and verandah on site, plus free WiFi and a small shop stocking basics — meat, wood, ice, drinks and snacks. There are no laundry facilities.
