Etosha Mountain Lodge sits atop a dolomite hill in the Etosha Heights Private Reserve, on the south-western boundary of Etosha National Park, with which it shares a 65km border. Nine air-conditioned chalets and sweeping savannah views make it an intimate, uncrowded base for exploring one of Namibia’s largest private reserves.
What Makes Etosha Mountain Lodge Different
With only nine chalets, one a family unit with its own private plunge pool, Etosha Mountain Lodge keeps a deliberately small footprint. Its elevated position gives every chalet and the communal areas panoramic views over the reserve, making it as suited to photographers as to couples and families after a quieter safari base than the park itself.
Accommodation at Etosha Mountain Lodge
Nine air-conditioned chalets: eight twin or double, and one family chalet with a private plunge pool on its veranda. Each has 180-degree views over the reserve, an en-suite bathroom with indoor shower and bathtub, a ceiling fan and a tea and coffee station. Battery charging is available in the rooms and main area, and laundry is complimentary.
Location & Getting There
The lodge is easily reached by self-drive and is also set up for guests arriving by fly-in safari. Light aircraft land at the reserve’s own airstrip, about an hour’s flight from Windhoek, and airstrip transfers are included. Etosha Mountain Lodge is located on the south-western side of Etosha National Park within the Etosha Heights Private Reserve.

If there were a word "perfect" to describe a lodge and its surroundings, it would perfectly capture this special place near Etosha National Park. ❤️🇳🇦
Even upon arrival, you receive such a warm welcome – a friendly smile, cool towels, and a refreshing drink. You immediately feel welcome here.
The view is simply breathtaking. Vast, endless landscapes, the tranquility of nature, and two waterholes right in front of the lodge where you can often spot animals. It's incredibly beautiful to simply sit, watch, and let this special moment sink in.
Add to that the fantastic game drives, where we were able to experience Namibia's fascinating wildlife up close. 🦒🐘🦓🦁 Every excursion a new adventure, every moment a lasting memory.
And then there's that pool… 🏊♀️
Right in the middle of this beautiful landscape, with a view stretching out into the endless expanse. A place where you simply want to switch off, unwind, and think: How beautiful life can be!

Etosha Mountain Lodge was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Namibia, and probably one of the best lodges we have ever stayed at.
The rooms are a little rustic, but that's exactly what gives the place its unique charm and authenticity. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The warmth, kindness and professionalism of the entire team were simply outstanding.
A special mention goes to the game drives, which lasted over five hours and were truly exceptional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated to giving us the best possible wildlife experience.
If you value genuine hospitality over unnecessary luxury, this place is a real gem. The people, the atmosphere and the safari experience make Etosha Mountain Lodge absolutely unforgettable. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful experience — thank you to Johanns, the manager, to Leon, our tour guide, and to all the staff for creating truly everlasting memories.
We had the opportunity to stay at Etosha Mountain Lodge for three nights and received great, attentive service throughout. The rooms were beautiful, with a fantastic view from our balcony. Plenty of privacy, lovely dinner settings, and very good food.
The highlight of our stay were the game drives — we used all our days from morning to evening. With wildlife you never know, but this was absolutely the right choice and we were incredibly lucky: seeing lions at sundown preparing to hunt, and experiencing elephants up close was unforgettable. We also saw many other animals and birds. Leon was an excellent guide, offering detailed explanations and impressive tracking skills.

We ended up at Etosha Heights Lodge completely spontaneously after heavy rainfall made it impossible to reach our original destination – and honestly, it couldn’t have turned out better.
After a long and exhausting drive, we arrived just in time for sunset without a reservation at the main gate and were welcomed incredibly warmly by Andrew and the entire team. From the very first moment, everyone was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and genuinely caring – we felt at ease right away. We might have been a bit lucky with the low season, but the level of hospitality was truly outstanding.
The lodge itself is beautifully located, with a stunning view and a lit waterhole. The dinner – which was spontaneously arranged with us upon arrival – was absolutely delicious.
The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. While not overly luxurious, they offer everything you need, and overall the value for money for a private lodge is very good.
A special highlight was the game drive the next day. We joined rather spontaneously (and it ended up being just the two of us), and our guide Leon really tried his very best. He not only put in a lot of effort but also extended the drive in coordination with us – giving us the most impressive lion sighting of our entire trip half an hour after the scheduled end.
All in all: What really makes this place stand out is the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. A truly memorable experience – we would come back anytime.

Our best hotel experience of our entire stay in Namibia in September 2024. The service and hospitality were exceptional. The safari with Rocky, who knew the park like the back of his hand, the close encounter with an elephant and a lion, the candlelit dinner, and the incredible sunrise were all highlights. These are our best memories.

Amazing, highly recommend! One of the best stays we ever had. Beautifull location right inside Etosha Heights. Game drives are great and start right away from the lodge. Food excellent quality and great variety. Staff is the best! So helpful and friendly.

This is place to be for freeing your mind. Friendly staff. Room service on piont. Food and such a happy chef. It's a home away from home. Game drive was so enjoyable they took us to a place where 12 lion's were resting never show a game drive guide coming closer to lion's and many more big animals. It's a awesome place.

Amazing staff. Friendly helpful and professional. The lodge is excemtionaly clean and well run. There are stunning views from all rooms and wonderful facilities. The food was incredible. A good variety and accomadating for vegan or gluten free meals.
