Swakopmund Guesthouse: Family-Run Coastal Comfort

Swakopmund Guesthouse is a family-run bed and breakfast in the centre of Swakopmund, a five-minute walk from the beach and the town’s main shopping area. It makes a convenient base for exploring Namibia’s coast. The Borg family owns and runs it. It began as their holiday home and opened to guests in 2008. A full renovation has since given it a modern, contemporary style.

What Makes Swakopmund Guesthouse Different

The guesthouse runs on solar power and offers a complimentary airport shuttle. Wheelchair-friendly rooms are available, and guests can park securely in the enclosed backyard. Bikes are free to borrow for exploring town. For something different, guests can book a beach breakfast for up to four people. It’s set up privately on a small dune, about a 15-minute walk along the beach from the guesthouse. The owners are on hand throughout your stay, and laundry and other services are available on request.

Accommodation at Swakopmund Guesthouse

Swakopmund Guesthouse has five standard rooms, six luxury rooms and three suites, all renovated in a modern, contemporary style. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating. Rooms also include air conditioning, a smart TV, a minibar, a coffee station, and 3-point, Euro and USB plugs. WiFi covers the whole property.

The luxury rooms are more spacious than the standard rooms, and most can be converted into family rooms sleeping two adults and two children under 13. Each suite has a separate lounge and a gas fireplace, with space for an extra bed or two for families. The family suite has two bedrooms, a small kitchen and a large lounge. It sleeps four to five people, including up to three children, and suits longer stays. Breakfast is a buffet with hot dishes, served from 07h00 to 09h00.

The guesthouse sits centrally in Swakopmund, an easy stop for travellers combining the coast with a wider Namibian itinerary, including onward routes into Damaraland. A rented vehicle makes exploring both the town and the surrounding coastline straightforward.
