Damaraland Camp: Wilderness Wonders in Namibia's Desert

Discover the uncharted beauty of the Namibian wilderness with Damaraland Camp. This establishment is not just a destination; it’s a portal into the heart of Africa’s raw and captivating landscapes. Situated in the Huab River Valley, one of Namibia’s most scenic wilderness areas, the camp provides an extraordinary experience teeming with desert-adapted wildlife, stunning vistas, and geological wonders. Damaraland Camp is more than just an accommodation establishment; it is a beacon of conservation tourism, promoting sustainable safaris and is recognized through numerous awards.

Guests are able to reach the camp by self-drive safari and a nearby airstrip caters for travellers that plan to experience Namibia on a luxury Namibian fly-in safari. Self-drive travellers are encouraged to make use of a rented 4×4 car to ensure safety and good ground clearance.

Accommodation at Damaraland Camp is an experience, with ten elevated adobe-style thatched suites that celebrate the expansive Namib Desert. The suites provide unimpeded vistas across the plains, offering guests an intimate encounter with the wilderness. Cool off in the pool, relish in the fireside boma evenings of cultural cuisine, song, and dance under the starlit skies, or enjoy a spectacular breakfast stop in the desert.

The cuisine at Damaraland Camp brings you closer to the local flavours of Namibia. From sunrise breakfasts of fire-brewed coffee, rooster brood cooked over the coals, and boerewors sausage to the ice cream and ginger biscuits in the afternoon, every meal celebrates traditional dishes and local produce. A boma dinner under the stars is a culinary experience not to be missed

Adventure is part of the package at Damaraland Camp, with an array of activities that connect you with the desert’s diverse ecosystem. Spot desert-adapted elephants and other wildlife on game drives, follow a guide on a scorpion night walk, marvel at ancient rock art, or explore the Twyfelfontein UNESCO World Heritage Site. Each activity offers a unique way to engage with the desert and its inhabitants.
